HINCOL Emulsion Premix-P is a medium-setting cationic bitumen emulsion conforming to IS 8887:2004, specifically formulated for Open Graded Premix Carpet (OGPC) with paver or mechanical application. Designed for larger-scale MDR, district roads, and state rural road packages — where paving equipment is deployed for superior surface quality, consistent thickness, and higher work output.
HINCOL Emulsion Premix-P’s formulation is optimised for plant mixing (cold) followed by paver laying — giving better surface regularity (IRI <3.5 m/km) and higher daily output (500–800 m/day) required on MDR and state rural road packages. Manufactured by Hindustan Colas Private Limited — a joint venture of HPCL and COLAS SA France.

Carry out mix design at HINCOL lab. Confirm optimum emulsion content (≈7%). Carry out field trial section before main work commences.
Apply prime coat (SS1) on granular base. Apply RS1 tack coat at 0.20–0.25 kg/sqm. Allow to fully break before paving.
Blend aggregates 2:1. Pre-wet with 1% water. Add Premix-P emulsion (≈7%). Mix 2 minutes. Discharge to trucks.
Transport mix to paver hopper. Lay with paver to 30 mm loose thickness at specified grade and camber.
Roll with 8–10 tonne roller. Apply Sealcoat-M immediately after rolling. Open to traffic same day.
Challenge: A 350 km MDR upgrade in Maharashtra required paver-applied Premix Carpet to meet state PWD IRI and camber tolerance standards — manual application was insufficient for this MDR classification.
Solution: HINCOL Emulsion Premix-P cold-mixed using drum mix plant, paver-laid at 30 mm. Average 650 m/day output. IRI <3.5 m/km achieved — meeting state PWD specification. Sealcoat-M same day.

Paver-laid Premix Carpet with HINCOL Emulsion Premix-P achieves IRI values below 3.5 m/km — meeting state PWD and PMGSY II/III surface tolerance specifications. This is significantly better than manually laid Premix-M which typically achieves 4–6 m/km IRI.
Premix-P is plant-mixed cold (drum mix plant without heating → emulsion added in cold mode) → transported to site in trucks → fed to paver hopper → laid to 30 mm loose thickness → rolled with 8–10 tonne tandem roller → Sealcoat-M applied immediately after rolling.
Yes, technically Premix-P uses the same emulsion grade as Premix-M and can be used for any OGPC application. However, for small village road packages, paver mobilisation cost is not economical — Premix-M with manual application is more cost-effective. Premix-P is the right choice for packages above 50 km or where surface quality specification requires IRI <3.5 m/km.
