HINCOL HINTAC is a high-performance Polymer Modified Cationic Bitumen Emulsion engineered specifically for Trackless Tack Coat applications on high-traffic roads, national highways, expressways, urban corridors, and airport infrastructure. Unlike conventional tack coats, HINTAC does not get picked up (tracked) by vehicle tyres or construction equipment after application — ensuring the tack coat layer remains intact and delivers maximum interlayer bond strength at all times.
As part of HINCOL’s premium range of bitumen emulsions, HINTAC is backed by the global polymer modified emulsion technology of parent organization COLAS SA, France — pioneers of bitumen emulsion technology since 1929. The polymer modification gives HINTAC significantly higher cohesive strength after breaking, preventing displacement under construction traffic loads while maintaining full adhesion to the existing pavement surface.
Polymer modification gives HINTAC high cohesive strength after breaking — construction vehicles and paving equipment pass over without picking up the emulsion, keeping the tack coat layer intact.
Polymer-reinforced bitumen film creates a significantly stronger adhesive layer between pavement courses — preventing slippage, delamination, and structural layer separation under heavy traffic.
Breaks quickly after application, allowing overlay operations to proceed without extended waiting times — ideal for projects with tight traffic management windows.
Can be applied on bituminous, aged bituminous, milled, and concrete surfaces — suitable for overlay, resurfacing, and pavement rehabilitation on all road categories.
Water-based emulsion applied at ambient temperature — no heating equipment needed on site, improving safety and eliminating fuel costs associated with hot tack coat methods.
Formulated with polymer modification expertise from COLAS SA, France — global pioneers of bitumen emulsion technology operating in over 50 countries for nearly a century.
Rates from HINCOL HINTAC product datasheet. Actual rate depends on site conditions and surface texture.
| Type of Surface | Rate of Spray (Kg / m²) |
|---|---|
| Bituminous Surfaces | 0.20 – 0.30 kg/m² |
| Granular Surfaces Treated with Primer | 0.25 – 0.30 kg/m² |
| Cement Concrete Pavement | 0.30 – 0.35 kg/m² |
HINTAC is the preferred tack coat for projects where construction traffic passes over the emulsion before overlay, and where maximum interlayer bond strength is required.
High-traffic NH overlay and resurfacing projects with tight traffic windows
High-speed expressway pavement works where bond strength is critical
City flyovers, underpasses, and urban corridors with constant traffic
Airfield pavement resurfacing where zero contamination is essential
Bridge deck overlays and flyover resurfacing with heavy construction traffic
After milling operations, before new asphalt overlay on milled surfaces
Existing pavement surface is swept and air-blown clean — free from dust, loose material, milling debris, and standing water before HINTAC application.
HINTAC is sprayed uniformly using a calibrated bitumen distributor at the rate specified for the surface condition and project specification.
The polymer modified emulsion breaks rapidly on contact with the surface, forming a thin, cohesive bitumen film that sets firmly — remaining in place even under construction traffic.
Unlike conventional RS1 tack coats, HINTAC’s polymer-enhanced film does not get picked up by paver tyres or roller wheels — the tack coat layer remains fully intact.
New asphalt layer (DBM, SDBC, or BC) is placed over the fully set HINTAC tack coat — achieving maximum interlayer bond strength and long-term pavement durability.
Construction equipment and paving trains pass over without picking up the emulsion — full tack coat coverage is preserved until overlay.
Polymer modification provides significantly stronger interlayer adhesion than conventional RS1, resisting layer slippage under heavy traffic loads.
Since HINTAC doesn’t track, there is no bitumen contamination of the overlay material from tyre pick-up — maintaining mix quality.
Rapid setting nature allows paving operations to proceed quickly after tack coat application — minimising road closure time.
Cold application at ambient temperature — eliminates heating equipment, improves site safety, and reduces project cost.
Strong interlayer bond prevents delamination, rutting, and structural failure — extending pavement service life significantly.
Formulated using polymer emulsion expertise from COLAS SA, France — global leaders in road construction technology since 1929.
Manufactured under certified quality management processes at HINCOL’s plants across India, with NABL-accredited lab testing.
Available for large highway projects and smaller road maintenance works across India.
Challenge: An 8-lane urban highway resurfacing project where paving equipment, dump trucks, and rollers were required to cross the tack coat repeatedly before overlay placement. Conventional RS1 tack coat was being picked up by tyres — compromising bond between layers and causing rework.
Solution: HINCOL HINTAC provided complete trackless performance. Despite repeated passes by heavy construction equipment, the tack coat remained fully intact — delivering maximum interlayer bond with zero contamination of the overlay mix.

HINCOL HINTAC is a Polymer Modified Cationic Bitumen Emulsion used as a Trackless Tack Coat on high-traffic highways, expressways, urban roads, flyovers, and airport runways. It bonds new asphalt overlays to existing pavement layers while ensuring that construction vehicles and paving equipment do not pick up the emulsion — preserving full interlayer bond strength.
A trackless tack coat is a polymer modified bitumen emulsion that sets with high cohesive strength, so vehicle tyres and construction equipment do not pick it up (track it) after application. On busy highways and high-traffic construction sites, conventional tack coats like RS1 can be displaced by construction traffic before overlay placement — removing bond from critical areas. HINTAC eliminates this problem entirely, ensuring complete tack coat coverage is maintained until the asphalt overlay is placed.
HINTAC should be specified instead of RS1 when:
No. HINTAC is a water-based bitumen emulsion applied at ambient temperature — no heating equipment required. This makes it safe, fast, and significantly more cost-efficient than hot-applied tack coat methods.
HINTAC can be applied on bituminous surfaces (existing asphalt pavement), milled asphalt surfaces (after cold planing), aged bituminous surfaces, and concrete pavement — wherever an asphalt overlay is to be placed and maximum interlayer bond strength is required.
Yes. HINCOL HINTAC is manufactured under IS 8887 specification for polymer modified cationic bitumen emulsion, under ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management processes at HINCOL’s plants across India.
HINCOL HINTAC is available through the L&T SuFin B2B construction marketplace with GST invoice, or directly from HINCOL. Request a quotation from HINCOL for bulk pricing, availability, and technical guidance.
