HINCOL BITUCLAIR is a translucent, colorable synthetic binder for producing coloured hot mix asphalt in any shade or hue. As part of HINCOL’s Special Bitumen Products range — backed by COLAS SA France with global expertise across 50+ countries — BITUCLAIR remains translucent when applied in thin layers (honey-coloured tint in thicker layers) and can be pigmented to produce red, green, blue, yellow, or any custom coloured asphalt.
The rheological characteristics of BITUCLAIR are analogous to conventional bitumen binders with equivalent penetration — same structural performance, same equipment, same processes. Available in four grades covering highways, tunnels, cycle tracks, mastic asphalt, surface dressings, and microsurfacing.
Conventional bitumen is black because of asphaltene — a complex aromatic hydrocarbon molecule. BITUCLAIR is synthesized from base products that contain no asphaltene. This means the binder is naturally translucent, and any pigment or colour added to the mix will show through clearly — giving vibrant, long-lasting coloured asphalt that retains its colour over the pavement service life.
Pigmented in any hue — red, green, blue, yellow, orange, or any custom colour. Vibrant colours that last over the pavement service life.
Rheological properties analogous to conventional bitumen — no compromise on structural strength, elastic recovery, or durability.
Manufactured and applied using standard bituminous mixing plants and paving equipment. No special machinery required.
EN LT grade applied 20–40°C lower than conventional hot mix — reducing energy consumption and binder ageing at the plant.
Permanent coloured asphalt for lane demarcation, junction zones, and traffic management — no paint markings that wear off.
Four grades cover everything from highways and tunnels (EN LT, ES) to mastic asphalt (15/25A) and surface dressings (70/100E).
Select the right BITUCLAIR grade based on your specific application requirement.

Where coloured bituminous surfacing adds function, safety, and aesthetics.
Coloured hot mix asphalt for lane demarcation, junction zones, and colour-coded traffic management on national highways and urban roads.
Light-coloured tunnel pavement improves visibility in low-light environments — reducing artificial lighting requirements and improving driver safety.
Green, red, or blue coloured asphalt clearly demarcates dedicated cycle lanes and shared paths — improving road safety for cyclists.
Colour-coded parking zones — bay demarcation, accessible parking, pedestrian walkways — using durable coloured asphalt.
Decorative and functional coloured paving for pedestrian zones, town squares, promenades, and heritage streetscape projects.
Red, green, or blue surfacing for sports courts, children’s play areas, athletics tracks, and recreational surfaces.
BITUCLAIR 15/25A for decorative mastic asphalt in commercial, retail, and institutional projects where aesthetics are critical.
BITUCLAIR 70/100E for coloured surface dressings and microsurfacing — cost-effective way to introduce colour on existing road surfaces.
Colour-harmonized road surfacing for boulevard approaches, scenic roads, and environmentally sensitive landscape areas.
Any pigment — red, green, blue, yellow, orange, or custom. Vibrant, durable colour that lasts over the pavement service life.
Manufactured without asphaltene — the molecule that makes bitumen black. Colour shows through clearly, not masked by dark base binder.
Rheological properties analogous to conventional bitumen with equivalent penetration — full structural performance, no compromise.
Made and applied with conventional hot mix plants and pavers. No special equipment investment or process changes needed.
EN LT grade applied 20–40°C lower — reduces plant fuel consumption and binder ageing during manufacture.
Coloured asphalt is far more durable than painted road markings — no periodic repainting, no fading, no maintenance.
Proven globally across 50+ countries by COLAS SA France — HINCOL brings this technology to India with full local support.
EN LT and ES for general roads, 15/25A for mastic asphalt, 70/100E for surface dressings — one product family covers all applications.

HINCOL BITUCLAIR is a translucent, colorable synthetic binder for producing coloured hot mix asphalt. Unlike conventional bitumen, it contains no asphaltene — so it stays translucent and can be pigmented in any colour. It has the same mechanical performance as conventional bitumen binders with equivalent penetration.
Conventional bitumen is black because it contains asphaltene — a complex aromatic hydrocarbon that absorbs all visible light. BITUCLAIR is synthesised from base products that contain no asphaltene. Without asphaltene, the binder is naturally translucent — any pigment added to the asphalt mix shows through clearly, giving vibrant, durable coloured asphalt.
BITUCLAIR binder can be coloured in any shade or hue — red, green, blue, yellow, orange, or any custom colour. The final colour depends on the pigment and aggregate combination used in the mix design. HINCOL’s technical team can advise on pigment selection for your specific colour requirement.
No. BITUCLAIR-based products are manufactured and applied using conventional bituminous mixing plants and paving equipment — no special machinery investment required. The key precaution is to ensure the plant and equipment are thoroughly cleaned to avoid contamination with conventional black bitumen, which would affect the colour.
BITUCLAIR EN LT format means the mix is manufactured and applied at temperatures 20–40°C lower than conventional hot mix when applied mechanically. This reduces fuel consumption at the plant, lowers binder ageing during production, and reduces fume and odour at the paving site — while maintaining full structural performance.
Yes — significantly more durable. Painted road markings typically need repainting every 1–3 years, especially on high-traffic roads. BITUCLAIR coloured asphalt is integral to the pavement surface — it does not peel, fade, or wear away like paint. This makes it the preferred solution for permanent cycle lanes, bus lanes, junction zones, and pedestrian areas.
HINCOL’s technical team provides grade selection guidance, colour advice, mix design support, and project-specific technical assistance for all BITUCLAIR applications.
