HINCOL BONDCOAT Emulsion

Polymer Modified · EN 13808

HINCOL BONDCOAT is a specially designed Polymer Modified Cationic Bitumen Emulsion conforming to EN 13808. The product range is available in three grades — C50BP-64, C50BP-70, and C50BP-76 — designed to deliver optimal performance across varied climatic conditions in India and internationally.

The emulsion has low viscosity and superior cohesion properties, making it an ideal product for spray applications including Tack Coat, Fog Seal, and pavement surface renewal. The polymer modification provides a stiffer binder at high temperatures — preventing bleeding and rutting — while maintaining flexibility and adhesion at lower service temperatures.

HINCOL BONDCOAT is used on road pavements, runways, and taxiways where interlayer bond strength is critical to long-term pavement durability.

🔗 Why Bondcoat Matters — The Science of Interlayer Bonding

Effective bonding between pavement layers is regarded as a key element in providing more durable, longer-lasting assets with lower maintenance requirements — reducing the risk of premature failure resulting from layer delamination or water ingress into the pavement structure.

The use of high-quality HINCOL BONDCOAT Emulsion between each pavement layer ensures sustainable pavements with increased service life. It provides inexpensive insurance for structural integrity — preventing delamination, sliding, or shoving of pavement layers. It also has a positive impact on the fatigue life of pavements, significantly extending the time between maintenance interventions.

Advantages & Product Features

Why HINCOL BONDCOAT outperforms conventional bitumen emulsion tack coats.

✅ KEY ADVANTAGES — POLYMER MODIFICATION
  • 🌡️Stiffer binder at high temperatures — prevents bleeding and rutting on roads exposed to summer peak pavement temperatures exceeding 60–70°C.
  • 🔗More adhesion — resistant to raveling and delamination — polymer chains improve bonding strength between bituminous layers significantly over standard emulsions.
  • 💧Less susceptible to moisture damage and oxidative ageing — polymer network resists moisture ingress and UV-induced binder hardening.
⚡ GENERAL PRODUCT FEATURES
  • Fast curing — rapid break and cure time enables faster overlay application.
  • 〰️Seals minor cracks on existing asphalt surface during tack coat application.
  • 🔄Renews aged surfaces and prevents further oxidation — extends pavement life.
  • 🚫Prevents slippage planes between pavement layers — eliminates layer sliding and shoving.
  • 🪨Helps prevent raveling / stone loss on new or existing asphalt roads.
  • 🛡️Less susceptible to moisture damage and oxidative ageing throughout service life.

Recommended Rate of Application

HINCOL BONDCOAT Emulsion — Tack Coat and Fog Seal application rates.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is HINCOL BONDCOAT Emulsion?

HINCOL BONDCOAT is a Polymer Modified Cationic Bitumen Emulsion conforming to EN 13808. It is designed for Tack Coat and Fog Seal applications on road pavements, runways, and taxiways. The polymer modification provides superior bonding, higher temperature resistance, and greater durability compared to conventional bitumen emulsions.

What are the three grades and how do I choose the right one?

The three grades are C50BP-64, C50BP-70, and C50BP-76. Grade selection is based on the average 7-day maximum pavement temperature at the project site. Higher grade = stiffer binder at high temperatures = better performance in hotter climates.

What is the difference between HINCOL BONDCOAT and standard tack coat emulsion?

HINCOL BONDCOAT is polymer modified — standard tack coat emulsions (RS1, SS1) use unmodified bitumen. The polymer addition provides: stiffer binder at high temperatures, higher elastic recovery, superior adhesion, and less susceptibility to moisture damage and oxidative ageing over the service life.

Can HINCOL BONDCOAT be used on airport runways?

Yes. HINCOL BONDCOAT is specifically recommended for runways and taxiways. The C50BP-76 grade is typically specified for airport applications in hot climate zones where pavement temperatures are highest and bond integrity under aircraft loads is critical.

What are the application rates for tack coat?

Application rates vary by surface type: Bitumen Surface 2.0–2.5 kg/10m², Aged Bitumen / Primed Surface 2.5–3.0 kg/10m², Granular Surface (Not Primed) 3.5–4.0 kg/10m², Cement Concrete Pavement 3.0–4.0 kg/10m².

What packaging sizes are available?

HINCOL BONDCOAT is available in 200 Kg steel drums, 1000 L plastic totes (IBC), and bulk supply in non-insulated distributor trucks or tank trucks for large highway projects.

What are the storage requirements for HINCOL BONDCOAT?

Safe storage temperatures range from 10°C to 80°C. Do not allow to freeze or boil. In bulk storage, mix every 1–2 weeks using a paddle agitator, loose gear pump, or slow centrifugal pump. Never bubble air through the emulsion to agitate.
