HINCOL ROADSEAL

IS 1834:1984 | Polymer Modified

HINCOL ROADSEAL is a polymer modified, bituminous, hot applied joint sealant compound for sealing and maintenance of joints in concrete roads and asphalt surfacing. As part of HINCOL’s Special Bitumen Products range, it exceeds IS 1834:1984 specifications for Hot Applied Sealing Compounds, Type A.

Designed to be tough and flexible, ROADSEAL has good extension properties over a wide range of ambient temperatures and can normally be applied to joint sizes up to 30 mm in width and 25 mm in depth. It is the ideal solution for filling joints between concrete and bituminous surfaces to prevent entry of water and foreign materials, with excellent low temperature flexibility and recovery properties.

🛣️ Road Cracks & Joints

All types of cracks on concrete and asphalt road surfaces — longitudinal, transverse, and random cracking.

✈️ Runway Edges & Joints

Runway edges, joints, and cracks that require maintenance — including taxiways and apron areas at airports.

⚡ Utility Cut Restoration

Restoring utility cuts on roads and runways after underground cable, pipe, or service installation work.

Advantages of HINCOL ROADSEAL

Performance characteristics that make ROADSEAL the preferred joint sealant for roads and runways.

🔗

Good Adhesion

Excellent adhesion to both concrete and asphalt surfaces — prevents debonding and ensures long-term seal integrity.

🧱

Resists Dirt & Grit Ingress

Resists ingress of dirt and grit associated with trafficked pavements — maintaining watertight seal under traffic loading.

🌡️

Wide Temperature Range

Works well across a wide range of ambient temperatures — from cold winters to hot Indian summers without cracking or bleeding.

🔬

Polymer Modified

Polymer modification provides enhanced flexibility, fatigue resistance, and recovery after traffic-induced deformation compared to standard bituminous sealants.

💧

Waterproof Seal

Prevents entry of water and foreign materials through joints — protecting the pavement structure from water ingress and subgrade damage.

❄️

Low Temp Flexibility

Excellent low temperature flexibility and recovery properties — maintains seal integrity even in cold climates without becoming brittle and cracking.

Application Method

Step-by-step guide for applying HINCOL ROADSEAL correctly.

STEP 1 — Joint Preparation
  • Joint sealing slots should be accurately formed and must be dry, sound, clean, and free from foreign materials.
  • Remove all dust by grit-blasting or grinding. Avoid polishing the joint sides when grinding.
  • Blow out the prepared sealing slot with dry, oil-free compressed air before application.
STEP 2 — Priming
  • Concrete joints: Prime with HINCOL Bitumen Primer before applying ROADSEAL. Allow solvent to fully evaporate before sealing.
  • Metal surfaces: Do not require priming, but should be warmed with a gas torch immediately before sealing to promote adhesion.
STEP 3 — Material Preparation
  • Open HINCOL ROADSEAL pack. Indirectly heat to 180–185°C.
  • Heating should be uniform — continuously agitate the sealant throughout heating and pouring operation.
  • Do not overheat the sealant — maximum heating temperature must not be exceeded.
STEP 4 — Pouring
  • Pour ROADSEAL at the top limit of the pouring temperature (185°C).
  • Pour to a level 5–7 mm below the road surface.
  • Do not allow water to contact the hot material during pouring.
