HINCOL Bitumen Emulsion RS1 (JP)

Spray Injection Pothole Repair

HINCOL Bitumen Emulsion RS1 (JP) is a custom fast-setting cationic bitumen emulsion purpose-built for the Spray Injection (Jet Patcher) process — one of the most efficient mechanised methods for pothole repair on bituminous roads. Part of HINCOL's Special Bitumen Products range, manufactured by Hindustan Colas — a joint venture of HPCL and COLAS SA France.

Unlike conventional emulsions, RS1 (JP) achieves rapid cohesion buildup with precisely controlled setting time. The repaired surface becomes traffic-ready within minutes, minimising road closures and traffic disruption. The emulsion is also fully compatible with tack coat applications on bituminous, primed, aged, and non-bituminous surfaces.

Spray Injection Specialist

Specifically engineered for spray injection (jet patcher) machines — perfect bonding between aggregate and existing road surface.

Fast Setting Time

Rapid cohesion buildup means repaired surfaces open to traffic in minutes — critical for high-traffic national highways and urban roads.

🚫🔥

No Heating Required

Used at ambient temperature — no hot-work permits, no fuel costs, no safety hazards associated with heating equipment.

🤝

High Adhesive Properties

Excellent bonding to aggregate and road surface — durable, semi-permanent repairs comparable to hot mix asphalt.

🌿

Environment Friendly

Water-based emulsion — no harmful fumes, no VOC emissions. Safe for operators, road users, and the environment.

💰

Cost Efficient

Lower material cost, zero heating fuel, and reduced labour time — most cost-effective pothole repair solution.

The 4-Stage Spray Injection Process

RS1 (JP) is engineered to perform reliably at each stage of the spray injection cycle.

1️⃣ Prepare

High-velocity air from the spray injection machine blows out loose debris, water, and contamination from the pothole or distress area.

2️⃣ Seal

A tack coat of RS1 (JP) is sprayed onto the cleaned surface, ensuring strong adhesion between the existing road and the repair material.

3️⃣ Fill

RS1 (JP) emulsion and aggregate are simultaneously delivered into the void — filling and coating aggregate for complete coverage.

4️⃣ Cure

A final aggregate cover is applied. RS1 (JP)'s fast-setting properties ensure rapid cohesion — repair is ready for traffic in minimal time.

Distress Types Repaired with RS1 (JP)

🕳️ Potholes

Primary application — semi-permanent repairs comparable to hot-mix asphalt.

⚡ Utility Cuts

Fast reinstatement of trenches and utility cuts on roads.

🚗 Wheel Path Rutting

Restoration of surface level in high-traffic wheel path depressions.

⬇️ Depressions

Levelling of settled or sunken road surface areas.

🔲 Edge Breaks

Repair of broken or crumbled road edges and shoulders.

〰️ Crack Sealing

Sealing of longitudinal and transverse cracks to prevent water ingress.

🛑 Speed Bumps

Construction of speed bumps and traffic calming features.

🎨 Pre-Surface Dressing

Surface preparation as tack coat prior to surface dressing overlay.

Best Practices for Optimal Results

✅ Use Without Dilution

Never dilute RS1 (JP) with water. Use the emulsion as supplied to maintain designed viscosity and setting characteristics.

✅ Apply at Ambient Temperature

No heating required. Apply directly at ambient temperature for best cohesion results and safe working conditions.

✅ Roll Drums Before Use

Roll the drum 5 times before opening and using to ensure homogeneous distribution of the emulsion.

✅ Compatible Equipment

Compatible with standard spray injection / jet patcher machines. Minimal training required — crews productive immediately.

Frequently Asked Questions — HINCOL RS1 (JP)

What is HINCOL Bitumen Emulsion RS1 (JP)?

HINCOL RS1 (JP) is a custom fast-setting cationic bitumen emulsion engineered for spray injection (jet patcher) pothole repair. JP stands for Jet Patcher. It builds cohesion rapidly so the repaired surface opens to traffic very quickly with no heating required.

What is spray injection pothole repair?

A four-stage mechanical process: distress area is prepared with high-velocity air, sealed with tack coat emulsion, filled with emulsion + aggregate simultaneously, then covered with aggregate. The result is a semi-permanent repair ready for traffic quickly — comparable in durability to hot mix asphalt.

What distress types can RS1 (JP) repair?

Potholes, utility cuts, wheel path rutting, speed bumps, edge breaks, crack sealing, depressions, and pre-surface dressing.

Can RS1 (JP) also be used as a tack coat?

Yes. HINCOL RS1 (JP) is also suitable for tack coat applications on bituminous, aged, primed, and non-bituminous surfaces.

Does RS1 (JP) require heating?

No. HINCOL RS1 (JP) is used at ambient temperature — no heating required. Safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-efficient.

What packaging is available?

Available in bulk supply (by tanker), MS drums (200 kg), and HDPE drums (200 kg). Pan-India delivery.
